How Are The Fines And Fees Paid To Idaho Courts Distributed?

Money paid to the courts, in most cases, is not kept by the courts. It is collected by the courts and given to the counties with direction as to how it is to be distributed to local and state governments, as well as victims of crime, according to statutes passed by the Idaho Legislature. Different types of fines and fees are distributed in different ways, with dozens of variations written into law. The result is that every dollar is earmarked for a specific destination before it is even paid to the courts.
